Two fingers to the smoking ban Nazis!

THIS weekend, 400 years of socially agreeable English history come to an end – and all because of the efforts of a bunch of whining health fascists.
Yes, from this Sunday, smoking will be banned in all enclosed public / work places.
In a demonstration of spite and contempt for the public, our masters in Parliament have ruled that the smoking ban will apply to all pubs.
An earlier, more “moderate idea of allowing smoking in those pubs that don’t sell food, was chucked out at the insistence of a handful of hatchet-faced New Labour harpies.
This is outrageous. Think about it. In England (once the very cradle of freedom) people will from 1 July be banned from doing what they have done every day for the past four centuries – namely enjoying smoking tobacco, usually with a comforting measure of ale or wine, in public taverns.
As has now been shown, most of the “evidence produced about the perceived “dangers of passive smoking is based on highly suspect science.
This is what happens with zealots – they get an idea in their heads and then they commission studies specially formulated to prove their point.
It is what has happened throughout Western nations over the past 20 years or so.
My only surprise is that politicians have rolled over and agreed to present smoking to the public as the Number One Social Evil and a Grave Risk To Health.
I do not plan to replicate any of the spurious arguments or misleading medical factoids trotted out with great tedium by the taxpayer-funded Smoking Cessation Industry.
They’ve had their say. What they’ve said, and more importantly what they’ve done in achieving a smoking ban, is hateful and cruel. I hope they can sleep at nights.
Now I am going to have my say. And the gloves are off.
The fight to restore people’s right to have a smoke in a social setting starts here.
I want to put right at the top of my agenda the two great health benefits of smoking, Yes, that’s right – THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF SMOKING.
Here are the self-evident reasons why smoking enormously benefits the health of those who partake...
(1) Smoking is the best reliever of stress we have. And stress is a killer. The anti-smoking Nazis, by their nasty campaign of pressuring and persecuting smokers, have added to the stress of millions of good people.
I have no doubt that many will die because of the utterly misguided efforts of public health zealots, including all those employed to wage war on smokers by the Mad Liberal Democratic Party of Liverpool City Council, and the similar lemon-sucking morons employed by the Death Star otherwise known as Wirral Council.
I have no doubt that many more people will now suffer fatal strokes and heart attacks while under stress because they have been coerced into giving up smoking.
(2) A massive problem for our country is obesity. Many people eat too much. If millions of people now stop smoking, as the Health Nazis hope will happen, then those people will start snacking as a replacement for ciggie breaks.
The result will be more obesity. More fatal heart attacks.
So well done you Health Nazis. May you spin in Hell for your sins.
I am also appalled that over the past 20 years young people have been indoctrinated by schools, in a way that is truly sinister and fascist, about the “horrors of smoking.
Why is it that many parents live in fear of their kids seeing them smoke? If kids catch mum and dad smoking in the garage or in the bushes at the bottom of the garden they go mad, ranting like members of the Hitler Youth.
I tell you, I have had enough of all this anti-smoking crap. My contribution to the smoking ban has been to treat myself to a new black leather pouch for my wonderful Golden Virginia rolling tobacco.
I intend to smoke more from now on, though obviously not inside my local pub, Hell’s Waiting Room. The landlord has, in any case, constructed a lovely roof garden with some sort of legally allowed shelter at one end – especially for his smoking customers (a majority of the regulars).
Similarly, Fred and Shirley, mine hosts at The Ginny, New Brighton, have created a beautiful garden with decking and a pagoda-style partial roof covering for their smokers. It is excellent and I do hope it encourages people to take up smoking.
I have also treated myself to a box of the finest Havana cigars.
As you can see from the picture at the top of this column, I have arranged my fingers in a special way around the shaft of my cigar, in a special gesture to the Smoking Ban Nazis.
(That is not the correct way to hold a cigar, by the way. One should grasp the shaft under a crooked index finger.)
Anyway, I intend to smoke more cigars and roll-ups from now on. Because I like smoking! All right?
And because smoking really is ALL the things that the Smoking Ban Nazis tell us it isn’t.
Most of us know in our hearts the truth of the following statement…
Smoking IS glamorous, cool, thoroughly enjoyable and beneficial to one’s health.

A wonderfully onesided article, perhaps with vision like yours, you should be working for the Capital of Culture company.
*** REGAN REPLIES. Err, thanks Matt, but I fear I'm simply not dull enough for the Culture Company. Not do I have the complulsory addiction to bad suits, gas-bagging meetings, and the launching of logos. Besides, anything funded by the taxpayer makes my soul shrivel.
Well said Mr Regan. This ban is a symbol for all that is appalling about the fake Labour party. Instead of being about smashing capitalism, tearing down the towers of privilege and advancing the working man/woman, they embrace finance, peerages, unfettered immigration (and we all know that only benefits the boss class who can pay lower wages) while dictating to us like the frustrated nannies many of them are. What Tessa Jowell, Harriet harman and their ilk need un my opinion is a damn good (XXXXXX XX - CENASORED - SR), but I am not volunteering. I may even hand back my peerage, although it did cost a few bob, like.
*** REGAN REPLIES: Don't hand back your lairdly trappings, old bean, they suit you.
God you're dull. Smoke away in the comfort of your own home.
Sorry Dean, but go and f**k yourself....
do you know how many different farts there are?there are 9 here goes......
Softuns, harduns, wettuns, dryuns, screamers, skrikers, wiffs, waffs, puffs and mellon couli crupters. have fun smitten smoker!
REGAN REPLIES: In the interests of human freedom, which is under attack by the Liberal-Fascist Establishment, I am putting Prince 57's comments up.
Can't agree with you over this issue Steve, but admire your chutzpah!
*** Ah, well, thanks Dave. You are a tolerant human being, which is more than I can say for all those people who have agreed to be Smoking Ban Inspectors for the Death Star that is Wirral Council.
Once again, you gloriously miss the point, Steve. The point is not that you can't smoke, it's that you can't puff your poison over other innocent people who don't want to breathe it in. I think all that smoking must have affected your brain.
*** REGAN REPLIES: Time and time again the "evidence" of the dangers of passive smoking has proved to be at worse, spurious, at best, greatly exaggerated. Besides, human life has to have risk in it, or it ceases to be human at all. What is happening is State Bullying of the most unpleasant kind - directed at the poor and the working classes.
Controversial I know but here goes; I don’t have much sympathy for non-smokers; it’s not a health issue for me. I fiercely object to them getting for nothing something that has costs me a fortune in tax and VAT. For that I suppose I should be grateful to the lilly-livered, panty-waisted, pinko commie sons of bachelors for ensuring no one is going to get any more of the smoke I have paid a fortune in taxes for, free of charge ever again. I just wish it was voluntary and people who wanted to have smoke-free establishments could do so if they wish and those who did not could also do the same. Free choice has gone the same way as free speech.
*** REGAN REPLIES. You've hit on somehting important . This is about FREEDOM!!
Comment made to local press Shropshire Star @
http://www.shropshirestar.co.uk/2007/06/college-bans-smoking-outside/
Headline: College bans smoking outside
Shrewsbury College will outlaw smoking anywhere on its premises when the ban comes into force on July 1, it announced today. It means more than 10,000 students, staff and visitors will not be allowed to light up anywhere in the grounds, including on car parks and in parked cars.
Richard Banks, human and physical resources director at Shrewsbury College, said: “If inhaling someone else’s cigarette smoke is bad for you indoors, IT IS BAD FOR YOU OUTDOORS.
How does this work then?
Is this the most stupid thing you've heard?
*** REGAN REPLIES: Yes, Ben, it is stupid as well as callous and fascist in instinct. Everything you'd expect from a member of the "Human Resources" industry, actually. Or as I call them - "Human Waste".
Hi Steve, I agree with your comments. I don't smoke but that is my choice, but I strongly agree with your choice to smoke. What I find amazing is that the government is allowed to smoke in Parliament. It seems a slightly one-sided law.
*** REGAN REPLIES. Yeah, Annette, the MPs voted themselves an exemption. Why? Because they are arrogant, selfish pigs.
Hi Steve,
just a couple of points of interest ...
Tobacco in the Reich
One topic that has only recently begun to attract attention is the Nazi anti-tobacco movement. Germany had the world's strongest anti smoking movement in the 1930s and early 1940s,supported by Nazi medical and military leaders worried that tobacco might prove a hazard to the race. Many Nazi leaders were vocal opponents of smoking. Anti-tobacco activists pointed out that whereas Churchill, Stalin, and Roosevelt were all fond of tobacco, the three major fascist leaders of Europe-Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco were all non-smokers. Hitler was the most adamant, characterising tobacco as "the wrath of the Red Man against the White Man for having been given hard liquor." At one point the Fuhrer even suggested that Nazism might never have triumphed in Germany had he not given up smoking.

*** Thanks for that - it's absolutely fascinating. STEVE.
Sorry to be back, but I have just read that passive smoking is estimated to kill 600 people in a year. 600? FFS. How many do cars kill? Are we going to ban them? How many has Tony Blair caused to be killed in iraq. Are we going to stamp him out? How many people will die from pollution? This is rank hypocrisy.
*** REGAN REPLIES: You are dead right.
Secondhand smoke is an internationally recognized carcinogen, along the lines of asbostos. There are also many studies linking secondhand smoke to heart disease, and I would have thought the health dangers to people with asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema
were obvious enough. Children in smoking homes have more lung desease - it's a fact. So presented with all that - how can smoke in public places possibly be a goood thing?
I'm all for personal freedom - smoke tobacco and whatever else you like, just keep it out of other people's faces. Smokers have no right to expose anyone to thier toxic and posionous exhaust fumes. If you want to kill yourself, take it outside and make sure you are killing ONLY yourself.
*** REGAN REPLIES: Using the State in a heavy-handed way to stamp out perceived health risks is a fascist method. In any case, humans cannot live in a society where risk has been eliminated - not if people are to remain properly human. This smoking ban controversy isn't about health. It is about human freedom, which is much more important.
Hey, couldn't agree with you more man. Smoking is the shizznit. Damn nazis, god i hate gordon brown, who is he to tell me not to smoke, fascist punk!
I have to agree with you and what you said. I think I shall start holding my cigs between them very voiceful fingers ^.^ Although im not one to go to a pub or resturaunt and smoke I still see how the government is totally ignoring our freedom, or should I say our so-called "freedom" Alcohol kills more people then so-called passive smoking.
Thanks for that, Nishi - STEVE.
Hurrah, good to see you're still raging against the machine. Have been way busy of late and it's reassuring to see you're on top form even in these dark days.
*** REGAN REPLIES: Hi Pinky.Good to see you're still alive and thriving. How well I remember that evil little smoking den in the basement of the Methodist Recorder building!
According to Penman
"Secondhand smoke is an internationally recognized carcinogen"
Can you tell me where you live??
I've never tried any con tricks before, so you seem to be an easy mark to start practicing on!!
Only ONE "study" has EVER concluded that ETS is a carcinogen. That was the discredited EPA study of 1993. They slanted the figures, reduced the CR threw away anything that went against what they wanted to prove & STILL couldn't get a statistically significant result but publically declared that they had.
The World Health Organisation's last study, set up to conclusively prove a link between ETS & lung cancer, had only one statistically significant result, ie that non-smokers brought up by smokers were LESS likely to get lung cancer.
The HSE report on ETS concluded that it had little delitarious effect which is why they are not covering the smoking bans. (Unfortunately, this report has now been pulled from their web-site as it flies in the face of government policy)
Well said, Steve.
The simplest and fairest solution would have been to give the landlord the choice. Perhaps make the licence more expensive for smoking pubs - the landlord would soon get the difference back. Or stick to the original idea that only pubs serving food are non-smoking.
There is a ban in several European countries but it is not enforced with anything like such nazi zeal as here in the UK. The lack of ashtrays and a polite reminder are all that is needed, whereas we have a barrage of signs on every building. In the UK I have seen the bloody things in subways and under a covered walkway between shops. In Europe pubs are allowed to offer smoking rooms/areas as long as the smoke can't escape to the main bar - and you don't get jobsworth need-a-life officials going around with meters enforcing petty regulations.
It's a shame that smoking isn't an integral part of one of the non-Christian religions - they wouldn't have dared ban it then!
In itself smoking is not the be-all and end-all, but as Steve says it is a worrying indication of things to come. What will be next? Drinking? Fatty foods?
I fear for what our country will become if we don't put a stop to it.
REGAN REPLIED: Thanks for that contribution towards keeping common sense and freedom alive, and the State off our backs!
I smoke but I don't like to be in smokey places when I don't smoke so I can understand that non-smoker might not like the smell. Fair enough.
But the bans have gone to far even in places where smoker don't bother anyone.
Nazis love to dominate and, if you let them, they will progress along that line, until they end up gassing you. This is held to be a rather healthier way to die than smoking. The way to fight this Nazification is "Smoke-ins" defying the ban in such numbers that the police are unable to police it. If done frequently enough and persistently enough Anti-smoke-nazis will eventually have to yield.
REGAN REPLIED: An intereresting concept of civil disobedience - though, of course, I cannot and do not condone breaking the law.
