My JOHN LENNON poem ...

By Steve Regan on Dec 8, 10 10:46 AM

Thirty years ago John Lennon was murdered. This is my poetic take on his life ...

Your wit is your skill.
You smile as you kill.
From unlikely streets
and a skiffle start
you staked a claim
on everyone's heart
It was a difficult start, no mum there
but an aunt who did her best to care -
for the boy who changed the world.
You brought colour and passion to our world,
You mop-topped messiah who morphed into
the long-haired lover who outgrew ... Liverpool.

Last night, after a most tiring day at work, and with my so-called life looking increasingly drifty and pointless, I went straight to Hell's Waiting Room in New Brighton.

Regular readers will know that's my local pub, and, yes, I still frequent it.

The place is under the new management of Arfur and his missus Boadicea. I'm not sure whether they own the business now, or are just looking after it while Mr Craggs and Eleganta Chignon remain officially in charge. You don't like to ask ...
